ACTOPOLIS is a call to action and to co-author the city – across disciplines, national boundaries and cultural differences. Local project ideas are being exchanged even at the development stage, before they are implemented in local interventions in Athens, Belgrade, Bucharest, Ankara/Mardin, Oberhausen, Sarajevo and Zagreb in 2016. During the third year (2017) the local events will be assembled and examined in a trans-regional touring exhibition, a conference and a publication.

Director of the Az W from 2017
Angelika Fitz will continue to develop and position the centre's programme. In doing so she wants to "build on the special DNA of the Architekturzentrum Wien". Under founding director Dietmar Steiner the Az W has become "an international ground-breaker of architecture mediation that engages with the social role of architecture".
Architectural Photography and Its Uses
What status does architectural photography enjoy today? Photographs construct architectural history, but at the same time hold up a critical mirror to architecture. They narrate their own stories, which compass economic and political contexts along with built structures and landscapes.

WELTSTADT - Who creates the city? | 2013-2015
Weltstadt brings together a range of projects which all deal with new forms of local city-making questioning mainstream practices of top-down city planning. The projects range from Riga, New York, Johannesburg, Seoul, to Ulan Bator, Belgrade, Dakar, Bangalore, and several cities in Brazil and Southwest Europe. The project Weltstadt is a joint initiative of the Goethe-Institut and the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. Curators Matthias Böttger, Angelika Fitz and Tim Rieniets were tasked with developing the contents of Weltstadt.
